A Comprehensive Guide On How To DIY A Money Pulling Cake

By now, you probably know what a money pulling cake is. They have been increasing in popularity recently, especially among the sphere of events and special occasions – and for good reason! It's an ingenious creation that doubles up on joy and allows the recipient to reap the benefits of a delicious cake and a fun monetary surprise. There's just no way to go wrong with a money pulling cake

There are so many viral videos of people pulling money out of one of these cakes you're bound to have stumbled upon one. Most people have reactions of utter befuddlement. Often, it can seem no less complicated than rocket science to novice bakers. But what if we told you there are ways to make one yourself from the comfort of your own home?

What kinds of money pulling cakes can you make on your own?

The answer to this question relies on the ingredients you have lying around or available to you and your personal preferences, as one might anticipate. The money pulling cake does come in a few traditional iterations, though, that are sure to satisfy any crowd.

The chocolate pull-money cake is one well-liked variant. Simply prepare a chocolate cake following your preferred recipe or mix to create this delectable treat. Frost the cake with decadent chocolate icing after it has baked and cooled. Then, use chocolate coins or other similar-looking candies to embellish the cake's top.

The caramel money pulling cake is a traditional variant of the cake. Use your preferred recipe or cake mix to make a vanilla or yellow cake for this delectable variation. Then after the cake has baked and cooled, add one layer of caramel. You can then add chocolate coins or candies to the cake's top to finish it off.

You may even consider making a strawberry money pulling cake if you'd like a fruitier variation on the recipe. Use your preferred recipe or cake mix to make a vanilla cake for this variant. Apply a layer of strawberry jam on top of the cake once it has baked and cooled. Finally, top the cake using your preferred garnishes.

DIY-ing The “pulling” part

If you want to take it a step further and make cakes that will actually allow you to "pull" the money, just do the following steps:

Step 1:

Firstly, you'll have to make a hole deep and wide enough to fit a tube inside. To ensure everything is proportionately sized, the cake you've baked (or bought) should be at least 9 inches wide and 3-4 inches tall. While this is a general guideline, the size of the cake depends on how much money you're going to place inside it.

If you're baking the cake, ensure that you've only frosted the between the cake layers and not on the outsides or top of it. This will makes it easier to insert the money tube into the cake later.

Step 2:

There should be a stick of some kind attached to the money tube. Many people use this opportunity to tie a lollipop to it for a little additional treat, but any stick that is long and sturdy enough should do.

Step 3:

The money tube can be made using anything that's the right size and cylindrical. You can use a paper towel tube or even a sturdy plastic cup for this. Leave some space on each tube edge as you carefully cut a slit in the tube that is the same length as the bags containing the money. The slit has to be a little bit wider than the bag as well. You'll also want to wrap the tube with plastic or saran wrap to prevent it from making physical contact with the cake.

Step 4:

Now, you should be adding the money to the bag. Line its surface end-to-end with the closely packed notes and tape the ends of the bag shut. You can then roll the bag tightly and place this into the tube. Pull a few inches of the money out of the slit you made in the tube and leave the rest inside. Use a hole puncher on the tube and tie a ribbon to it and the other end to the stick.

Step 5:

Finally, use a sharp knife to cut a hole in the middle of the cake wide enough to place the tube inside. Place the tube inside with the stick or lollipop facing up. Cover the hole with frosting with the lollipop left on the outside and decorate however you'd like.

Conclusion

So, as you can see, making a money pulling cake isn't all that complicated if you're looking to make something quick and fun. It just takes a bit more manoeuvring and some extra planning to surprise your friends and loved ones with one.
